Light

To enable you to continue to enjoy its evergreen foliage and white flowers during bloom, Sarcococca should ideally be planted in a semi-shaded spot. The shrub is not afraid of sunlight, but does struggle with too much direct sunlight.

What is important is where you plant the shrub. The kind of soil in which you plant Sarcococca is less relevant. It will thrive in as good as most soil types.

Requires little to no looking after

It does not necessarily need pruning and giving extra fertiliser or nutrients is not a must either. All in all, the plant demands very little effort from its owner who gets a lot in return.

Do not overwater

Giving Sarcococca some extra water on dry days certainly can't do any harm. However, do make sure the shrub is not left unduly wet for long.
