Buddleja is not a worrywart. It does enjoy an occasional pruning, a little organic grease, and some water. Plenty of watering is a must the first year, after that it will take care of itself.

The ornamental shrub can handle different types of soil. If you really want it to feel at home, place it in a permeable, calcareous to slightly acidic soil.

Do it right, but in moderation. Pruning keeps the shrub young and allows it to bloom optimally. Early spring is the perfect time to shorten it.
